The final episode of “The Best Thing” has aired, leaving behind a bittersweet ache. It’s the kind of post-drama feeling that settles deep, a sense of loss for a world and characters that felt so real. More than just a simple drama, “The Best Thing” was a sanctuary, a nightly ritual of comfort akin to a warm hug or a steaming cup of tea. It was a gentle reminder of the love we all yearn for, a testament to the beauty of human connection.
What truly set “The Best Thing” apart was its ability to portray love in its multifaceted forms. It wasn’t solely focused on the blossoming romance between He Suye and Shen Xifan. The narrative wove together the intricate tapestry of familial bonds, the unwavering support of friendships, and the unexpected kindness of passing encounters. This comprehensive exploration of love resonated deeply, painting a picture of a world where genuine affection prevailed.
While marketed as a lighthearted, feel-good drama, “The Best Thing” surprised me with its emotional depth. The moments of angst, though poignant, felt authentic and relatable. We witnessed the leads grapple with their vulnerabilities, their struggles, and their journeys towards healing. The drama handled these moments with sensitivity, allowing the characters’ growth to unfold naturally, without feeling rushed or contrived.
The unexpected highlight of “The Best Thing” was its ability to maintain its charm even after the leads officially became a couple. Often, dramas lose their spark once the “getting together” hurdle is cleared. However, this drama defied expectations, continuing to deliver a steady stream of heartwarming moments. Zhang Linghe and Xu Ruohan’s chemistry was undeniable, their performances captivating, and their portrayal of He Suye and Shen Xifan utterly convincing. They made their love story feel tangible, a testament to their exceptional talent.
One of the most refreshing aspects of “The Best Thing” was its balanced portrayal of its supporting characters. The second leads and other cast members were given just the right amount of screen time, each contributing meaningfully to the narrative. There were no unnecessary plotlines, no characters overshadowing the main couple. This meticulous approach to storytelling created a cohesive and engaging viewing experience.
Despite some viewers labeling it as “boring” or “bland,” I found “The Best Thing” to be utterly captivating. From the stunning cinematography to the charming cast and the heartwarming story, every element contributed to a truly delightful viewing experience. It was a feast for both the eyes and the heart.
It feels as though I embarked on this journey only yesterday, yet it has already reached its conclusion. “The Best Thing” became my nightly haven, a perfect escape from the stresses of daily life. Its absence will be keenly felt. This drama is a must-watch for anyone seeking a stress-free viewing experience, a guaranteed smile, and perhaps a gentle reminder of the joy of love.
I will miss the world of “The Best Thing” dearly. Its rewatch value is exceptionally high, and I know I will return to it time and time again. It has undeniably earned its place as my favorite modern CDrama. The OST’s, cinematography, acting, everything was great and i enjoyed this drama from start to finish. He Suye, with his unwavering support, understanding, and sincerity, has become one of my favorite modern drama male leads. The wedding scene, especially, was beautifully executed, evoking genuine emotion. “The Best Thing” was a pure, heartwarming tale of love, and I am grateful to have experienced it.

However, she often forgets to take the medicine due to her busy work and always causes He Su Ye headaches due to her forgetfulness.
Originally, the relationship between the two was only limited to a doctor-patient relationship, but it unexpectedly turns out that they actually live in the same community, and it was due to the unexpected encounters, again and again, that allowed the love between the two to slowly sprout. Shen Xi Fan is cautious because of a failed first love. He Su Ye was abandoned by his first love and has closed his heart since then.
Gradually, Shen Xi Fan grows closer and closer to He Su Ye and in the “awkward” stage of his interactions with Shen Xi Fan, He Su Ye gradually understands the true meaning of love and begins to pursue love. He Su Ye’s determination and hard work in the cause of traditional Chinese medicine also guided Shen Xi Fan to recognize herself and finally find her perfect match.
