The SSS salary loan is one of the more useful benefits you can access as an SSS member – low interest rate, no collateral, and the entire application can be done online. The catch is that eligibility depends on your contribution history, not just whether you are currently employed.
Who qualifies for an SSS salary loan.
You need at least 36 posted monthly contributions, with 6 of those posted within the last 12 months before you apply. You also need an active My.SSS account, a bank account enrolled in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM), no unpaid SSS loans, and you must not have filed a final benefit claim like retirement or total disability.
If you are employed, your employer needs to certify your application before it gets processed. If you are self-employed or a voluntary member, SSS processes it directly.
The contribution count is the one that catches most people off guard. If your employer has not been remitting consistently, you may show fewer than 36 posted contributions even after years of working. Check your record under My.SSS before you apply.
How much you can borrow.
Members with 36 to 71 contributions can borrow up to one month of their average Monthly Salary Credit (MSC). Members with 72 or more contributions can borrow up to two months. With the MSC cap at P35,000 in 2026, the maximum loan is P70,000. The system computes your exact loanable amount when you log in.
The loan is repayable over 24 monthly installments at 10% interest per annum on a diminishing balance – much lower than most private lenders.
How to apply for an SSS salary loan online.
Step 1: Log in to My.SSS at member.sss.gov.ph.
Step 2: Go to E-Services and select Apply for Salary Loan. Your loanable amount will be displayed.
Step 3: Select your loan amount and review the Loan Disclosure Statement, which shows your monthly amortization and total interest.
Step 4: Select your DAEM account – the bank account where proceeds will be sent. Enroll one first if you have not done so.
Step 5: Submit. You will receive a transaction number by email. Keep it for follow-ups.
For employed members, the application goes to your employer for certification first. Once certified, SSS processes it within 2 to 3 working days and the funds arrive in your DAEM account via PESONet within 24 to 48 hours after approval.
A few things worth doing before you apply: enroll your DAEM account in advance so it does not delay your application, and check your contribution count first – if you are close to 72 contributions, waiting until you hit that threshold unlocks a higher loanable amount. Late repayment carries a 1% monthly penalty, so set up a reminder if you are paying manually.
You can track your application anytime under My.SSS – Inquiry – Loans Info.
