Wow, it’s been quite a while since I last posted a review in here. Oh well, technically this is not a review. I’m just sharing what I’ve been watching lately. There’s few good ones currently showing these days but I’m only hooked on one so far.
I’m sure alam nyo na which one is it based on my featured image right up ^. Yep, it’s none other than A Korean Odyssey or Hwayugi. This is Lee Seung-gi’s comeback series after his military enlistment and another work from the Hong Sisters.
This show is giving me similar vibes as the Goblin. It was also around these months last year that we all cried and fell in love with Gong Yoo. Anyhow, Hwayugi is a modern spin-off of the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West focusing on the Monkey King or Sun Wukong. This is slightly similar to the sequel of the Hongkong-Chinese movie The Monkey King which followed the story after 500 years later since Wukong was imprisoned in the Five Fingers Mountain.
I’m not going to elaborate the story from the film but instead will continue to watch this love for a bit. It’s on episode 12 now so there’s 8 more to go.
It’s being shown in Netflix but broadcast is 4-5 days later. I normally check out raw uploads from Dramahood but subs can come out hours later if not the next day so sometimes when I can’t wait for the subs, I’d read the real time recap from other sites out there.
If you’re not watching this show, please do. It’s a very enjoyable one.
