Back in 2004, BIR launched the online TIN application. Curious me, I applied for one without realizing all these RDO (Revenue District Office) stuff will cause me headaches in the future. And so fast forward 8 years later, after 3 employers and finally needing to change my S to S1 status, I didn’t have a choice but update my RDO address.
So here’s how:
1. Go to the your local BIR Revenue District Office (click here to get the address). If you have no clue which RDO your TIN is currently registered, just give them your TIN and they should be able to check it out for you. Fill out the Application for Registration Information Update Form 1905 (which you can also download here). RDO for Dumaguete is 079 by the way. When I did that online TIN application thingy, apparently my RDO was in Marikina – 045.
2. Submit the Form 1905 to your original RDO. So in my case, I had to check the address of RDO 045 and their phone number. I called them first and got their fax number. I faxed a copy of the form and then also sent the document thru LBC.
3. Follow-up after 7 working days with your original RDO. Okay, I did it after 2 weeks just to give them enough time to update my records and all. Called Marikina and apparently they could not find the document I sent via LBC. So I had to call LBC and verify who signed for it. After a few phone calls, they finally found my documents and they changed it to 079.
4. Call your local RDO and confirm if your TIN has been changed to the correct one.
My experience wasn’t as smooth sailing as what the BIR employee mentioned but thank God it’s done. Hopefully your experience won’t be as difficult as mine.
